Risk Retention Group

The American Trucking and Transportation Insurance Company Risk Retention Group (hereinafter "ATTIC") is a member-owned risk retention group admitted as a captive insurer in the State of Montana.  ATTIC is currently authorized to underwrite auto, cargo and general liability risks for the trucking industry.  ATTIC, admitted in Montana and approved to conduct business in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming, is currently registering as a risk retention group in the Midwestern and Western states and will register in any state in which an interested trucking company is domiciled or maintains intrastate operating authority.

ATTIC was formed in early September 2002 by a group of trucking companies desiring to align themselves with other top safety-minded trucking companies in an  insured-owned captive entity with the objective to control their own insurance destiny.  ATTIC believes that the costs of insurance for trucking companies can be manageable.  By partnering safety-minded trucking companies together and sharing risk, each company can stabilize their insurance rates over the long-term, increase their control over claim management and loss control, and reduce the administrative cost impact on their liability rates.
